Hi all,
If you're in the Albany NY area, hope you are doing well and staying safe from the recent storm we just had. We unfortunately lost power in the print lab for a good number of hours, so we are about a day behind on production. That being said, lets go to the updates:
The following orders are complete and ready for delivery:
1) Schenectady Board of Elections: 200
2) Sharon Springs Rotary: 200
The following order is in progress:
1) Community Hospice: 150 complete, 100 packed for delivery, 350 in progress (Ordered on 9/30/2020)
For the first time in 6 months there are currently no orders queued. We will, however, continue production to create a small stockpile in preparation for other board of elections that we have not yet heard back from. Nonetheless, we will now be resuming production of ear savers unless shield orders pick up considerably again.
We are waiting for feedback on the child sized shield design. If feedback is positive, design files will be released and production will be opened to this shield type.
In other news, our final printer arrived from Prusa Research this past Friday. Assembled over Monday night/Tuesday morning, this i3 MK3s kit (purchased as a kit to reduce expense) was built in about 6 hours and is now busily making face shields. Photos below!
The addition of this printer has increased total shield capacity to 10 an hour allowing easy turn around times of 100 shields in one work day. This has also increased the surge capacity to 175 a day.
On a final note, we are working on validating the visual field shield design for Zeiss visual field units. Additionally, we are working on a bottle cabinet for dropper bottles as the American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends all dropper bottles be stored in cabinets. This is obviously not feasible for rooms that lack cabinets, so we will be making either a fully 3D printed solution or a hybrid approach!
That's all for now,
Brian
